John Curtis Phillips Jr. 80,of Texarkana, Texas died Sunday April 6,2003 in a local hospital. Mr. Phillips was born August 27,1922 in Texarkana. He was retired from Southwestern Transportation Co., a member of Unity Baptist Church and a World War II Army veteran. He was preceaded in death by his wife, Zettie Lela Phillips, in 2001.
Survivors include two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jared and Valerie Phillips and John Phillips of Texarkana; four grandchildren, Joel Phillips, Benjamin Phillips, and Matthew Phillips of Texarkana; and Kevin Phillips of Mabank, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Jonathan Phillips of Austin, Texas; Ethan Phillips and Cameron Phillips of Texarkana; and a number of other relatives. Graveside services will Full Military Rites will be 4 p.m. Tuesday in Hillcrest Memorial Park with the Rev. Jimmy Albrecht officiating, under direction of Texarkana Funeral Home.
