Esther E. Lockwood 95 of Bluffton passed away at 3:14 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2011 at Heritage Pointe in Warren, where she has been a resident for the last few years.
Mrs. Lockwood was born on May 10, 1916 in Big Rapids, Michigan to Homer and Evelyn (Ratliff) Addington. She married James E. Lockwood.
She attended the Bluffton School System. On June 3, 1933 in Wells County, Indiana. She was a homemaker and a wonderful cook, Mother and Grandma, who was loved by all. Also, she loved her family very much. She was a dedicated member of the Poneto United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, a member of the Eastern Star, and the Home Economics Club.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Shirley (Wayne) Harnish, Van Buren, IN and a son Donald (Marlene) Lockwood, Delaware, Oh., along with grandchildren; Brent(Julie) Harnish, Brian (Cindy) Harnish, Jennifer (Dennis) Southers, Jean (Victor) Brady, Jill (Dennis) Huston, Judi (Kirk) Kitts, Douglas (Annie) Lockwood, Donita Barbola and Donelle Judy.
She is also survived by 20 Great-grandchildren and 9 Great-Great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister Alice, and husband James E. Lockwood.
Friends are invited to visit with the Lockwood family from 5-8 Monday evening at the Thoma/Rich, Chaney & Lemler Funeral Home in Bluffton. Funeral Services will take place at 10:30 Tuesday, (June 14, 2011) at the funeral home. Pastor Donald Lockwood will officiate along with Rev. Victor Brady and Pastor Jeffrey Brady.
Burial will follow at Stahl Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Poneto United Methodist Church through the funeral home.
