Son of Joel and Alice Rogers Townsend, husband of Ottie Ruth Elliott.

MULLINS - Wade H. Townsend, 81, died Friday. Born in Lake View, he was a son of the late Joel and Mrs. Alice Rogers Townsend. He was a graduate of Appalachian State and a World War II Army veteran. He retired after 25 years as a public school music teacher and was a member of Mullins First Baptist Church and the Mullins American Legion Post.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Ruth Elliot Townsend; a son, Wade H. Townsend, Jr. of Pawleys Island; a daughter, Mrs. Alice T. Cooper of Nashville, TN; two brothers, Finley Townsend of Twin Lake, Michigan and Junius Townsend of Lake View; and grandchildren.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Meares Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Lake View Cemetery.
