Travis Prince Davis Our little Mother died peaceably, surrounded by her sons and their wives Saturday, July 2, 2011 in Jacksonville. Born November 23, 1926 in Lake Mississippi to Aubrey C. Prince and Ethel Ober Prince. She was predeceased by her awesome husband, John David Davis, of almost 61 years and survived by her loving sisters Mavis Fratesi and Margaret Bond (Jimmy), three sons, John Norman (Cheryl), Robert Glenn (Jacki) and Douglas Mitchell (Brenda), seven grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, with more on the way. How can one begin to put a whole lifetime of love into a few lines? Mother was our greatest cheerleader in every mountain we attempted to climb. She never stopped supporting and loving us boys. From picking cotton in Mississippi to getting her GED she never complained and never gave up. She was a PTA mother, helped us deliver the Jacksonville Journal out of our 55 mercury station wagon, led our school boy patrol to Washington, D.C., worked in the Duval County School system and was a band parent and our greatest fan at our Nurse's Week Concerts at Baptist Medical center for 15 years. For 55 years she supported the E.44th st.Baptist Church in the choir and cooked many meals as she did for family gatherings. She taught us to fear the Lord and follow Him all the days of our life. Proverbs 31:28 Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Funeral Services in celebration of her life will be held at E. 44th St. Baptist Church Thursday, July 7th at 2:00pm, with Pastor Richard E. Carney officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8pm Wednesday, July 6th at Hewell & Son Funeral Home, 4747 Main St.
