Obituary:
JONTE
Mr. George E. Jonte, aged about 54 years, died Sunday afternoon at the A. D. Price Memorial Hospital in this city. His passing was a deep regret to the whole community, for while he had been a citizen of this place only about a year he had gained the warm friendship and respect of everyone, and proven himself a valuable addition to the community. Mr. Jonte for many years was associated with Armour & Company, of Chicago, and was formerly manager of their creamery plants at Louisville, Omaha, Neb., Springfield, Mo., and other places. He came to Harrodsburg last November as manager of the Blue Grass Butter Factory, a new enterprise launched by the Ice & Produce Company. He started this plant and has guided its destinies most successfully, until within the year it has become one of the big businesses of this place. Mr. Jonte was a public spirited man, joining in every good community enterprise that has been put on foot during the past year. He has been ill for about two months with leakage of the heart and complications. Several weeks ago he went to Martinsville, Ind., but failed to find relief and grew gradually worse until the end came. His funeral was held at the residence on College street Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. L. E. Sellers, pastor of the Christian church, and Rev. F. B. Jones of the Methodist church, and the interment was in Spring Hill cemetery. Surviving him are his widow, two sons, Messrs. Winston Jonte, with the Maloney-Davidson Company, of Louisville, and George Jonte, Jr., who is connected with the Blue Grass Butter Company of this city. Also his mother, Mrs. Julana Jonte and a sister, Miss Abbie Jonte, of Harrodsburg. A number of out-of-town friends attended the funeral, among them Messrs. D. J. Maloney,
A. N. Gossman, W. Y. Vandenberg, W. A. Elwell, Louisville; N. I. Taylor, Burnside; Mrs. Attaway Schmitt, Danville; Mrs. W. R. Kernohan, Chicago; Mr. Harry Feamster of Frankfort; Dr. and Mrs. J. N. Casey, Danville.
