Marine Lance Corporal Jesus Alberto Suarez del Solar was killed in action during Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was assigned to the 1st Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, 1st Marine Division, Camp Pendleton, California. LCpl. del Solar was killed by an unexploded U.S. military cluster bomblet he stepped on in a plowed field. Jesus was born in Tijuana and his father brought the family to the United States in 1997 to fulfill his son's wish to become a Marine. He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 2001 after graduating from Valley High School in Escondido, California. Fighting in Iraq was what he wanted to do because he wanted to prevent an attack on the United States. He always said he would rather go over there so the terrorists didn't come over here to hurt us. Jesus always put his family first. He was helpful to others and was the kind of person everyone could easily love. He leaves behind his wife, Sayne, and 16-month-old son. (Bio by Jay Lance)
