Sergeant Hodson was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. Killed in a vehicle accident in Iraq. Hodson, the father of a 2 year old son, had dreams of settling down into a life as a Marine recruiter. He died just a few months after his mother died of cancer. "He was so proud of being a Marine, of serving his country," said his twin sister, Nicole. "He passed doing what he loved to do." Hodson was a lanky 22-year-old from outside Saint Louis with a quick wit and charm. When he wasn't driving or asking for the butter pecan packet from other soldiers MRE (meals ready to eat) packs, Hodson repaired much of the battalion's equipment, finding even less time for rest than most. Hodson's four-year stint was due to end in June, and he was trying to decide whether to go college and study engineering or make a career with the Marines. Hodson was single but had two sons: Braden, 2, who lives with his mother in Kansas City, Mo., and Marius, 1, who lives with his mother in North Carolina. (Bio by Jay Lance)
