Esther Violet Blatherwick, daughter of Fred and Lula Brazle was born in Sefton township, September 23, 1906 and departed this life at the Grant Hospital, Chicago, Illinois, Monday evening October 9, 1933 aged 27 years and 16 days.
On June 26 1926 she was united in marriage to Harold Blatherwick of Chicago. To this union were born two sons, Delbert and Orville. She leaves to mourn her departure besides her husband and children, her mother and father, one aged grandmother, Mrs. Rella Griffith, four sisters,
Lois Grandfield, Nola Loar, Lola Brazle all of Vandanlia, and Irene Brazle of Sefton township. Six brothers, Milas of Sefton township, Cecil of Vandalia, Mancel, Hubert, Merlin and Loren all at home (Sefton Township). Also a host of other relatives and friends. An infant sister preceded her to the Great Beyond.
She was faithful attending at Sunday School and church from childhood, and was converted and joined the church in 1924. Her faithfulness as a wife and mother could not be excelled, having literally given her life for her family. She realized the need of establishing a Christian home and she and her husband joined the Gross Park Methodist Church of Chicago and had their children christened and dedicated to the Lord. About a month before her departure she and her husband gave themselves to the Lord in utter consecration and their Christian home was established.
A major operation which resulted in her death, due to a weak heart, was of no dread to her, that her desire for a Christian home had been realized. She was resigned to God's will for her life, knowing that whether she was taken or permitted to stay her children would be given the Christian training which she had longed they should have.
Preceding the services held at Liberty Church in Sefton Township, Friday afternoon, a short service was held in Chicago where more than a hundred friends gathered to pay their last respects to the deceased.
