This is a memorial only for the husband of Rebecca Simmons Kinsland who is buried in this cemetery. John and Rebecca are my GGG grandparents. John died at age 42 and is buried somewhere in or around Charleston, SC - his gravesite remains unknown. After his death Rebecca gathered her 6 children and moved to Haywood County. Their children: William H. - married Sarah Gaddy in 1822 in Haywood Co and they moved to and died in Macon County, NC; Ruth - married Isham Blalock; Jesse Gerrard - married Priscilla Holland on March 26, 1827 Haywood Co, Jane - married Jacob Snider son of Adam Snider and Barbara Dillow; Eva - married George Frederick Smathers-son of John and Mary Agner Smathers-Haywood Co; and Joshua - married Priscilla Holland.
From some old records I found out that John was a carpenter. He, his wife Rebecca and their children lived at 114 Meeting Street in Charleston.
