Until Barbara Cox listed him, Lovick Van Dorn McLane was the number one mystery man in our research. The name "Lovick" was the breakthrough and echoes through McLane, McLean, McLain ancestry.

Van Dorn McLane was living with his cousin and my Great Grandfather Alonzo L Pelham in Pike County, 1880. He may be the one who changed the spelling from McLean to McLane.
