Emory D. Baker, "Corky", 74 of Tyrone, NM passed away Sunday, February 24, 2008 at Gila Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born December 16, 1933 in Texico, New Mexico to Harry B. Baker and Irene N. (Ingram) Baker, the youngest of five children. Corky served in the U.S. Navy from 1953-1957. He was a fireman for the Clovis Fire Department in Clovis, NM from 1962-1968. He retired from Phelps Dodge Mine in Dec. 1995. He enjoyed playing the guitar and he was especially fond of "Buttons" his Chinese Pug. He is survived by two sons, Mel and his wife, Wanda Hendrickson of Silver City; and Don and wife, Dee Hendrickson of The Colony, Texas; one daughter, Sandra and husband Jim Powers of Silver City; three granddaughters, seven grandsons and 18 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his siblings, Frank, Harry, Harriet and Margery. Corky will be dearly missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 29, 2008 at 2pm at Terrazas Funeral Chapels. Inurnment will follow at Fort Bayard National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the local animal shelter. Cremation has taken place at Terrazas Crematory in Santa Clara. Arrangements are with Terrazas Funeral Chapels and Terrazas Crematory "Trusted care for the ones you love"
