Mrs.Cassie H. McDavid Hammond, 82, died here Wednesday. She was a native of Scott Co., Va. and had lived in Kingsport, Tenn. for 40years before moving to Illinois. She was a member of the First church of the Nazarene.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Marie Martin and Mrs. Mrytle Gerkin, both of Woodland, Ill.; three sons, Erwin Hammond and William Hammond, both of Kentland, Ind., and Laverne Hammond, Chesterfield, MO.; four sisters, Mrs. Donna Spivey, Mrs. Ada Reed, and Mrs. Lena Tipton all of Gate City, Va., and Mrs. Nora Peters, Weber City, Va.; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Gate City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Funeral services for Mrs. Cassie McDavid Hammond will be conducted at 2p.m. saturday at the Gate City Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Herman Quillen officiating.
Burial will follow in the Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, Va.
Pallbearers will be Harlan Peters, Edward Reed, Lynn McDavid, Claude Orvil and John Spivey, Erwin Jennings, and Jack McDavid.
The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. Saturday
