NORFOLK - Evelyn May Grant, 87, passed away peacefully April 17, 2007, surrounded by her loving family.
Evelyn was born Feb. 22, 1920, to L.H. and Etta Stanley in Roanoke, Va. She was a cafeteria worker with Sherwood Forrest Elementary until her retirement. When Mrs. Grant wasn't providing meals for the school children, you could find her working in her garden, shopping or spending time with her family. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Jerry "Papa" Grant; three daughters, Janis Belch and husband Tommy, Paula Benton and husband Steve and Peaches Jenkins and husband Earl; seven grandchildren, Ericka, Sonya, Phillip, Tanya, Denise, Summer and Greg; and two great-grandchildren, Donald and Michael. She was preceded in death by both parents and her son, Paul Mooney Jr.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Friday in Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Albert G.
