Lawrence Albert Swindell Sr. passed away on April 18, 2008, in Sentara Obici Hospital.

He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd, a past president and past treasurer of the Smithfield Rotary. He loved sailing, playing bridge and reading.

Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Carolyn C. Swindell; son, Lawrence (Nicole) Swindell Jr; daughters, Denise (James) Creech and Sheila (Joseph) Wright; sister, Margaret Miller; and 5 grandchildren.

A funeral will be held April 22, in Colonial Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery, Suffolk, Va.
