Ellen was raised in Mt. Pleasant NY, she married Timothy Mullane. They were the parents of three daughters, Gracie, Mary and Nell. After Timothy's death in 1898, she and her two surviving daughters (Mary and Nell) lived with family until she married Gustav Kanze in 1901. Their son, Gustav, Jr. was born in 1903. Ellen died in 1933 and was buried with her first husband Timothy Mullane in the William Slavin family plot in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
