In Alabama, on the 17th ult. the Rev. John Avery, D. D. Rector of St. John’s in the Prairies, in Green county, Ala. and late Rector of St. Paul’s Church, Edenton, in this State. Dr. A. had been to Mobile on business, and was returning to his family in Greensboro’. He was in feeble health when he reached the former place, and became much worse while there; but having recruited, so as to be able to set out for home, he took passage in a Steamboat with that view. The day after leaving Mobile, he was much better throughout the day, and went to bed at night without any indication of an unfavorable change. The next morning, he was found dead in his berth.
