Pastor James Erickson
Pastor James R. Erickson, 79, Green Bay, left his earthly home and family in the afternoon of Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2006, following a 19 year battle with Parkinson's disease, to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. It was difficult for his family and friends to let him go, as his life reflected the love of Christ and influenced so many to live their lives for Christ. He was born Dec. 3, 1926, in Duluth, Minn., to John P. and Karolina Erickson. Jim graduated from Brainerd High School with the Class of 1943. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was later a member of the VFW. On Oct. 9, 1946, he married Maxine E. Barden. James worked as the production manager for the Press- Gazette from 1965 to 1981. In 1977, he founded Interfaith Fellowship and served as a full-time pastor there from l981 to 1997. He was a member and past vice president of the Gideon's International, a past president of the Harris User Group, and a member of the ANPA Research Committee and the Toastmaster's Club. Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, reading and history.
Survivors include his wife, Maxine; five children and their spouses, James M. Erickson, Jeanne C. and Rev. Jerry Bruette, John S. and Luann Erickson, Jack R. Erickson, Jerry W. and Parletta Erickson; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother and sister-in-law, Warren F. and Lola Erickson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Erickson, in 1938, and his; mother, Karolina Erickson, in 1987.
Friends may call at Interfaith Fellowship, 1840 W. Mason St., from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 4. Friends may also call at Interfaith from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. The funeral service will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Interfaith with Rev. Jerry Bruette officiating. Burial will be in Fort Howard Memorial Park. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family.
A memorial fund has been established in Pastor Erickson's name. Maxine and the entire Erickson family extend their special thanks to Dr. Stephen Somerville and Dr. Robert Mead, the nurses, CNAs and all the staff of Unity Hospice for their loving care of Jim.
