Rev. Earl Douglas Dousay, 73, minister of the First Baptist Church of North Channel, went to be with his Lord Jesus on February 18, 2002.

Brother Earl, as he was known to many, resided in the North Channel area for over 38 years. He was ordained as a minister July 15, 1984 and served as pastor of First Baptist of North Channel (originally known as the Second Baptist of Cloverleaf) until his homegoing.

Bro. Earl was born December 5, 1928 in Pitkin, Louisiana to George & Emma Dousay. He worked for several years in the funeral industry at the old Broadway Funeral Home in Galveston. He served as President of the Gideons International, Northshore Chapter for three years. He served as Field Chaplain for the Harris County Sheriff's Department where he ministered to the Harris County jail inmates and those living at the Star of Hope Missions. Bro. Earl was also a member of the C.A. Fortner Masonic Lodge in Channelview.

He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as brothers, J.B. Dousay, George Dousay, Jr., and Hughey Dousay and most recently by son, Gary Dousay in December of 2001.

He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Wanda Dousay; sons, Billy Wayne Dousay and Doug Dousay; stepmother, Beulah Dousay; brothers and sisters, Dick & Joyce Dousay; Herbert & Marie Dousay; Dorothy Maddox; Patty Ruth & Edwin Barton; Harold & Yvonne Dousay; H.C. Dousay; and Verna Dousay; as well as by 5 grandchildren, Cary Dousay, Crystal Dousay, Edity Renee Dousay, Denise Yates and Brandon Dousay; great-grandchildren, Andrew, Blake, Lance and Justin Dousay, Katelyn and Haley Yates.

Services are 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 21 at First Baptist of North Channel, 13817 Force Street, Houston with Rev. Gerald Roe and Freddy Wier officiating. He will be laid to rest in San Jacinto Memorial Park under the direction of Carter Funeral Home
Family will be receiving friends and family Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 9:00 p.m. at First Baptist of North Channel.
Bro. Earl was a friend and inspiration to all who knew him He will be greatly missed here, and joyfully received in heaven.
