The longest-living recipient of a self-contained artificial heart. He became the second recipient of the AbioCor artificial heart in a surgery procedure on September 13, 2001. There are only two other recipients still living. Robert Tools (see entry on Find A Grave), who became the first person to receive the artificial heart in July, 2001, died on November 30, 2001.
