Arthur J. McDaniel, 90, of Amwell Township, died Wednesday, November 21, 2007, in Canonsburg General Hospital.
He was born January 10, 1917, in Johnstown, a son of William Stephen and Annie Shull McDaniel.
Mr. McDaniel was retired as a district sales manager from Bixby-Zimmer Engineering.
He was a member of Friendship Community Church, Sunset Lodge 623 F&AM, Syria Shrine and Greater Washington Area Senior Citizens.
He previously enjoyed playing in the Senior Citizens bowling league for 12 years, where he served as president and chaplain and was a former member of Greene County Country Club and past president of the golf league. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing in the church dartball league.
On July 26, 1968, in Birmingham, Ala., he was married to Adeline I. (Addie) Gerhke, who died January 20, 2003.
Surviving are three daughters, Mona Kay Freeman of Latrobe and Wanda Cheryl Bell and Denise Gayle (Dan) Filo, both of Johnstown; a sister, Irene Crislip of Maryland; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are seven brothers, Roy, Lloyd, Foster, Clyde, Merle, Lee and Lester McDonald; and a sister, Gladys Divine.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in Hummell and Barnhill Funeral Home, 420 Locust Ave., Washington, Thomas W. Hummell, supervisor, Douglas M. Jones, funeral director, where services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, November 24, with the Rev. Floyd C. Marasco-officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray. Memorial contributions are suggested to Friendship Community Church, Washington, PA, 15301.
