OBITUARY, SAN ANTONIO EXPRESS NEWS, MAY 1, 2006

Bootsy Jones, born May 3, 1925, in Wingate, Texas on the Whigham Farm to Mack and Pearl Whigham, passed away Friday, April 28, 2006, at her home. She grew up in Cotulla, Texas, where she graduated from high school. She attended a year at Southwest Texas State Teacher's College in San Marcos, TX. Bootsy met the love of her life, Walter Edward Jones, in Cotulla and they married on May 12, 1949. They enjoyed a wonderful life together, "doodlebugging" for Standard Oil co. in Texas and Louisiana until Walt died May 12, 1965, in Houston. Bootsy packed up her other two loves, Kay and Walt, and moved to Abilene to be close to Mother Pearl and all the relatives. Bootsy's career of apartment managing brought her to San Antonio in 1975. She managed many apartment complexes in town but her career highlight was manager atr Olmos Towers for over a decade until she retired at age 72. She was a member of Coker United Methodist Church. One lifetime is all we get but it is always just exactly enough if we use every day we are given. She was loved by all whose lives she touched for even a moment, and she will be sorely missed by her family and friends who were so special to her. We celebrate the life of Bootsy, Mommy, Mom, Mimi. She was preceded in death by her sister, Wilma Frick. She is survived by her daughter, Kay Brink and husband Steve; a son, Walter Jones and wife Gigi; 2 grandchildren, Brittany Brink, and Kelly Jones and wife Mandy; 3 great-grandchidren, Sean Kelly Jones, Ian Jones, and Cavan Jones; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. The family will receive friends on Monday from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Porter Loring North. Service, Tuesday, May 2, 2006, 11:00 A.M., Coker United Methodist Church, 231 E.N. Loop Road. The Rev. Sue Gibson officiating. There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, May 3, 2006, at 1:00 P.M. in the Wingate Cemetery, in Wingate, TX. Those who desire may make memorial contributions to the Longevity Foundation, 3002 Enfield Rd., Austin, TX , 78703.

NOTE Bootsy had just been released from the hospital the day of her death after treatment for heart problems. Her daughter, Kay, planned to spend the night with her as Bootsey lived alone. About 10 pm, she complained about a terrible pain, asked Kay to hold her hand, and died immediately.
