Mr. H. G. Watkins,Jr., 85, of Madisonville, KY, died Sunday, July 9, 2006, at the Western Kentucky Veterans Center in Hanson, KY.

Born February 21, 1921, in Muhlenberg County, KY, he was the son of the late Henry G. and Floy Coffman Watkins.

He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II from 1942-1945. He retired from BellSouth in Madisonville after 41 years of service. He was an avid golfer, baseball and basketball player and enjoyed gardening.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Louise Watkins, son Grady Watkins, and sisters Edna Mae Lyons of Clarksville, IN, Faye Stevens of Livermore, KY, and Louise Wallace of Central City, KY.

He is survived by three daughters, Ann Oldham of Madisonville, Rosemary Brown of Bowling Green, KY, and Janice Watkins of Florida; a brother, Bob Watkins of Central City; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, July 12, 2006, at the Barnett-Strother Funeral Home with Rev. Hughlan Richey officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 6 and VFW Post 5480.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 11, 2006, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and from 12 noon until the service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Wallace, Gary Oldham, Bobby Glenn Stevens, Eric Oldham, Dean Watkins and Joey Skaggs.
