The undersigned members of this meeting having in the late trouble through which our country has passed been induced to take up arms in defense thereof contrary to our testimony in regard to war and having been favored to return home, in gratitude and love to the testimony of our Society, we feel bound to acknowledge our departure therefrom and hope Friends will pass it by and accept this and retain us in membership. The above voluntary acknowledgement from the young men of our monthly meeting, having been read and considered, was accepted and they [are] retained in membership.
