The Cairo Messenger, August 22, 1975, Mrs. Sallie Davis Passes Away On August 15th
Mrs. Sallie Bowles Davis, wife of the late Labron B. Davis, Sr. passed away Aug. 15, 1975 at the Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville after a short illness.
Funeral services were held Aug. 17 at Clark Chapel with Rev. Wayne Meadows and Rev. A. D. Finch officiating. Honorary pallbearers were Hugh Pollock, Cleve Flowers, Junior Hickey, Will Akridge, Bill Vinson, Edmond Taylor, Jim Lawrence, Frank Stewart, Ray Whigham, Wilburn Jones, David Hart, Ralph Pierson, Larry Craddock, Mike Brinson, Dan English, Mark Davis, Kenny Akridge, Joe Hickey and Roy Hickey. Interment was in Macedonia Cemetery.
Mr. Davis was born in Worth County, Ga. on Dec. 25, 1884 to the late Sim and Lucy Smith Bowles. She married Labron B. Davis, Sr. who died June 3, 1966. Mrs. Davis was a lifetime resident in this area and a member of the Macedonia Baptist Church.
Survivors include 5 sons, T. E. Davis, M. J. Davis, L. B. Davis, Jr. and Harold Davis all of Pelham and R. C. Davis of Tallahassee, Fla.; 2 daughters, Mrs. A. D. Finch of Silver Springs, Fla.; Mrs. O. L. (Lois) Brinson of Bradenton, Fla., and several grandchildren , great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Arrangements by Clark Funeral Home.
