Gracie was born in New York City in 1912 to Daniel Francis Brown, Sr. and Sarah Rollston. She was the oldest child of four children. Her siblings were:

Anna Brown 1918 to Unk.
James Arthur Brown 1925 to 1999
Gracie died at the age of 13. The cause of death was Mastoiditis. She was at Bellevue Hospital when she died.
She loved the Girl Scouts and was buried in her Girl Scout uniform.
She was interred in an unmarked grave in the famous Green-Wood Cemetery which is a National Historic Landmark, located in Brooklyn, NY. She joined James Rollston for whom the grave was originally purchased. He was interred about July 15, 1899 and Grace Rollston who died on January 23 1900 (a child); and Sarah O'Neil who was interred on October 30, 1933.
