Obituary

The Rev. Herman J.D. White, 78, of Soddy-Daisy, departed this life Friday, May 30, 2008, at his home.

He was born in Decatur, Tenn., to the late Ples Emerson White and Perlie Ann Dunn Chase. He also was preceded in death by his siblings, Ruby Strickland, Doylas and Clifford White.

He worked for Vega Industries for 20 years, and was of the Church of God faith.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Mamie White, of Soddy-Daisy; children, Sharon Morphis of Chattanooga, Herman "Bronie" White, of Soddy-Daisy, Lena "Cricket" Cranmore, of Bakewell; siblings, Evelee Janlow of Chattanooga, Rosie Ashburn of Red Bank, Robert White, of Chattanooga; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 2, in the chapel with the Rev. Clifford Sizemore officiating.

Interment will follow in Smith-Wilkey Cemetery.

Family will receive friends 3 p.m. today.

Arrangements are by W.L. Wilson and Sons Funeral Home, Fort Oglethorpe.
