--"Whitey" Gladden was an Emergency Medical Technician and volunteer member of Gaston Lifesaving Crew. He loved to talk about the many emergency calls which he had responded to.
--He also worked for Gastonia City Wrecker and hauled old cars to the junkyard to make spare money.
--Clarence would often sing old tunes from the WWII era, and he loved to tease people by stuttering.
--Whitey was a tunnel rat during his time in the army.
--Whitey loved watching history shows on TV, he was buried with his TV remote.
