Richard L. "Dick" Kern
NEWTON — Richard L. "Dick" Kern, 55, Newton, died Thursday, March 27,1997, at Newton Medical Center. Mr. Kern was born Nov. 24, 1941, at Herington. He served in the Army Reserves during the Vietnam War. He was a sales manager for Washburn Motors; a salesman and used car manager and assistant sales manager for Holstine Motors; and used-car sales manager at Resnik Motors since 1991. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Herington, and attended Salem United Methodist Church, Newton.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila of Newton; a son, Aaron of Wichita; two daughters, Audra Davis of Bentley and Shana Hosford of Newton; his mother, Hazel Kern of Herington; and three brothers, Larry of Plevna, James of Edmond, Okla., and Kenneth of Eureka.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Salem United Methodist Church, Newton, the Rev. Lawrence W. Grove officiating. Burial will be in Restlawn Gardens of Memory, rural Newton. Memorials may be made to Salem United Methodist Church or Newton Medical Center in care of the funeral home. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today, from 1 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Broadway Colonial Funeral Home, 120 E. Broadway, Newton 67114, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
