MAYVILLE - Beverly A. Gelwicks, 75, of Mayville, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 2010, unexpectedly in her home.
She was born June 2, 1935, in Pottsville, Pa., the daughter of the late Walter and Dorothy Runkle Fisher.
Beverly was an elementary school teacher in Basking Ridge, N.J., Oswego, N.Y., and in Hinsdale, Ill., she also owned and operated the Kopper Korner in the Chautauqua Institution for the past 35 years.
She was a member of the Mayville United Methodist Church, Westfield Garden Club, and she had also been a volunteer at the Mayville Food Pantry.
Beverly enjoyed gardening, making floral arrangements, playing the piano, and she was an accomplished painter. In earlier years she enjoyed skiing, camping and being outdoors.
She is survived by her husband, James H. Gelwicks Jr., whom she married Aug. 25, 1956, in Port Carbon, Pa; a granddaughter, Rachel (Daniel) Morin of San Francisco, Calif.; son-in-law, John R. Wood of Fairview, Pa.; and a sister, Susan (Carroll) Warner of Belmont, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Lynne G. Wood, who died Dec. 10, 2002.
