NEWTON —

William E. "Bill" Friday 81, died Saturday June 16, 2012 at Skaggs Hospital in Branson, Missouri. He was born June 25, 1930 in Hillsboro, Kansas to William and Anna (Klein) Friday. On April 1, 1956 he married Iris Stine and she preceded him in death on December 2, 1993. He later married Thelma Jean "T.J."

Spellman on June 28, 1997 and she survives of the home. He was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Newton. Bill was retired from the Santa Fe Railroad as a carman. He also served his county in the U.S. Army during Korea.

He was a member of the American Legion and National Association of Retired Veteran Railroad Employees. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his many friends and loving family.

Bill is survived by his wife Thelma Jean" T.J". Friday of Newton; Sons Mike and his wife Michele Friday of Mulvane, and Ron and his wife Tami Friday of Hutchinson; daughter Debbie and her husband Bob Davis of Wichita; Step son Shawn Spellman of Olathe, and Step daughter Cindy and her husband Larry Branson of Hutchinson. He also has four grandchildren Allie, Michael, Meg and Miles.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters Pearl and Bertha Brooks and seven step brothers.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Thursday at Salem United Methodist Church in Newton with The Reverend Nancy Crowl presiding. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday evening at Petersen Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Military graveside service will be in the Restlawn Gardens of Memory Rural Newton.

Memorials are suggested to Salem United Methodist Church in care of Petersen Funeral Home.
