Obituary:

Diedirch L. Holthus passed away Friday evening, on Nov. 25, 1949 , in the Tecumseh Hospital after being confined there since Sept. 29. Mr. Holthus, son of the late John Diedrich and Margretha Doretha Holthus, was born on Oct. 23, 1880, on a farm south of Johnson, Nebraska.

He was baptized on Nov. 25, 1880 at the Old Stone Church by Rev. Dirks and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 7, 1895, by the same minister.

Mr. Holthus was united in marriage to Dora M. Knippelmeier of Johnson in the Martin Luther Church by Rev. Donath on March 23, 1905.

To this union was born four sons and one daughter, John Holthus of Elk Creek, Harry Holthus and Albert Holthus of Johnson, Herman Holthus of Auburn and Viola Whitten of Johnson

Mr. Holthus leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife and family, one brother, Ernest Holthus of Auburn; three sisters, Mrs. Gerd Behrends and Mrs. Albert Behrends of Auburn and Mrs. Dick Ottemann of Johnson, and 12 grandchildren.

The Beethe Brothers Funeral Home in Elk Creek was in charge of the funeral services. a service was held at Stone Church and interment was in the church cemetery.
