Howard James Rupe of Radford, age 52, died Wednesday in Radford Community Hospital.

He was a retired employee of the Lynchburg Foundry Company. He was a past commander of VFW Post No. 776.

Surviving are his wife. Carol V. Rupe of Radford; three sons, Allen Dale Rupe of Minot, N.D., Kevin Dean Rupe and Gregory Scott Rupe, both of Radford; two daughters, Michelle Dawn Rupe of Dublin and Heather Alane Rupe of Radford; his mother and stepfather. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold J. Weiss of Radford; one sister, Lucille Gramm of Radford; and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Adventist church with Pastor Raburn Lewis of­ficiating. Interment will follow in Highland Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Heart Association. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the DeVilbiss Funeral Home in Radford
