He was the s/o Andrew Jackson & Martha (Moore) Backus and the h/o Maggie (Morris) Backus, he was 61-6-24 days at the time of his death.

Carl Lee Backus
Carl Lee Backus, 61 year old retired miner of Mammoth, died yesterday of a heart attack at his home.
A former employee of Warner Colliery Co. at Mammoth he was a member of UMW local No. 404.
Surviving are his wife, Maggie May, four daughters Mrs. Velda Kuh and Mrs. Eileen Smith both of Mammoth, Mrs. Dorothy McCoy of Detroit and Mrs. Louise Burns of Savannah, and six grandchildren.
Services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Mt. Lewis Baptist church, with the Rev. U. G. Wolfe officiating.
Burial will be in Mt. Lewis cemetery at Mammoth under the direction of the Cook mortuary of Cedar Grove. The body will be taken to the church one hour before the service.
