He was an Army veteran and a member of the Teamsters union. He was a member of the St.Anthony Catholic Church.
Surviving are his wife, Catherine; 3 daughters, Gloria(Mrs.Dennis) Penenger and Virginia(Mrs.Randy)Hopkins, both of Des Moines, and Carla Rogers, St.Paul, MN.; 3 sons, Daniel, Steven and David, all of Des Moines; a sister, Helen Uphoff, Minneapolis and half-sister, Lorna Gregory of Ralston; 8 grandchildren; and 7 g-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents and a half brother, Donald.
