Mrs. Macie Mozelle Scronce, age 90, of 1941 Gastonia Highway, Lincolnton, passed away Monday, May 9, 2011.

Her funeral will be 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Bethphage Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Warlick Funeral Home in Lincolnton.

Mrs. Scronce was born on May 30, 1920 in Lincoln County and was the daughter of the late James William and Molly Clark Sigmon.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Dan Scronce, three brothers, Jim, Lester and Bud Sigmon, all of Lincoonton and five sisters, Mae Leonhart, Sue Winn, Edna Figleaf, Katherine Boulerice and Chot Hull.

Mozelle was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. As a young lady, Mozelle played an active role in caring for her younger siblings during the depression.

In June 1953, she married her husband Dan Scronce. She and her husband owned and operated Scronce's Grill, a local "teenage hang out" in the 1950's. She owned and operated a small shop in Lincolnton for several years after closing the grill. She was a woman with strong will and faith and was a member of Bethphage Lutheran Church.

Mozelle is survived by her daughter, Robin Scronce Helms and son-in-law, Glenn Helms, a son, Wayne Anthony and a granddaughter, Kendra Helms, all of Lincolnton; one brother, Pete Sigmon of Charlotte; two sisters, Pat Boyles and Essie Kiser both of Lincolnton and many nieces and nephews.
