NEWTON — Carrol June Miser, 78, died Saturday (June 6, 2009) at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Carrol was born on Oct. 26, 1930, to Charles and Mildred (Beuterbaugh) Coffelt in Arkansas City. They preceded her in death.

She was a graduate of Arkansas City High School.

She married Donald D. Miser on June 1, 1948, in Arkansas City. They recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary. She was a homemaker who deeply loved her family and enjoyed cooking, yard work, painting, sewing and needle work.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Newton, where she was involved in various Bible study and vocal groups. As a member of the First Baptist Church in Arkansas City, she served as youth leader, Sunday school teacher, youth choir director and adult choir member.

She also worked as a Camp Fire Girl Leader for several years. She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother, a strong Christian woman, a valiant prayer warrior, and an excellent homemaker.

Survivors include her husband, Donald D. Miser; daughters, Sylvia Riggs and husband, Rex, of Arkansas City, Donna Reynolds and husband, Rick, of Winfield, and Janice Morris and husband, Gary, of Junction City; half-brother, Terry Coffelt of Colorado Springs, Colo.; half-sister, Elaine Atkins of Yoder, Colo.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Eugene Coffelt; sister, Shirley Katherine Tornquist; and an infant great-granddaughter, Reegan Riggs.

Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Petersen Funeral Home in Newton. The family will greet friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church of Newton.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in care of the funeral home.
