Peter John Gettier is the son of John G. Gettier who was born in 1810 in Maryland and died in Butler County, Ohio before 1846. His mother was Amanda Nee Weidner Gettier who later married a John Magee. Amanda was born in 1817 in Ohio. Peter had been married to Lena Pfefenberger who died before him.
