World War II German Naval Officer. He was the commander of the pocket battleship "Admiral Graf Spee". On December 17, 1939, he scuttled his ship 4 miles out of Montevideo, Uruguay to prevent it's capture by British forces. The crew went to Argentina and interned for the rest of war. Two days after his arrival at Buenos Aires, Argentina, Captain Langsdorff committed suicide.
