He was a native of Plainfield CT but had made his home in Waycross since 1987. He was the son of the late Earnest Casavant and Ida Porier Casavant.
He was the retired maintenance director of Ware Manor Nursing Home. He had served with the United States Army during the Viet Nam War and the Gulf War attaining the rank of Sergeant and was a chaplain and past commander of the Disabled American Veterans.
He was a member of Crawford Street Baptist Church and had served as pastor of churches in West Virginia and Georgia.
Survivors include his wife, Dianne Hust Casavant of Waycross; a daughter, Tammy Casavant of Belton, TX; six sons, Lucien L. Casavant, Jr (wife Kathy) of Plainfield CT, Jeffery Casavant (wife Carrie) of Lincoln, NE, Michael L. Casavant (wife Joann) of Clarkville, NH, Billy Casavant (wife Sharon) of Waycross, James Casavant (wife Jessica) of Blackshear, and Tony Casavant of Waycross; fourteen grandchildren; four sisters, Simone Jackson (husband John) of Belton, TX, Helen Adams (husband Tony) of New Hampshire, Rita and Rosie both of Belton TX; a brother, Richard Casavant of Arizona and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to his wife and son, Tony.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday (May 3, 2011) at Music Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in Hephzibah Cemetery near Dixie Union.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM Tuesday at Music Funeral Home.
