Forest Whiteman Forest (Toots) M. Whiteman, 72, Butler, died Sept. 8 at the St. Joseph Hospital, Kansas City. Funeral Services were held Sept. 10 at the Underwood-Steinbeck Chapel with the Rev. Mikel Robbins officiating. Burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Whiteman was born Nov. 5, 1911 in Holden, to Sherman and Frances Bryson Whiteman. On March 7, 1946, he was united in marriage to Lizzie Lee in Kansas City. To this union, one son was born. Mr. Whiteman served in the U.S. Army during World War II for 42 months. He worked at the Special Lens Plant for 30 years and worked for six years at the Bates County Memorial Hospital before retiring. Mr. Whiteman was a member of the Pleasant Gap Christian Church. Those that preceded him in death were his parents and one brother, Claude. Survivors include his wife, Lizzie, of the home; one son, David, of Olathe, Kans.; two brothers, Marvin Whiteman, Kingsville, and William Whiteman, Hale; six sisters, Margaret Olson, Holden, Lucille Arwood and Cora Thomason, Warrensburg, Dorothy Arnold and Opal Talley, both of Holden, and Dolly Lyman, Phoenix, Ariz. and three grandchildren.
