AGED WOMEN DEAD AT HOME IN DAYTON.
Mrs. Charlotte Godfrey, wife of James Godfrey, of Dayton and one of the most highly esteemed residents of Sheffield township died Wednesday night at the age of 73 years. She had lived in the country for more than 60 years.
Charlotte Victoria Morris was born in Northfleet, England, October 1, 1845 and was the daughter of John & Caroline (Horscroft) Morris. When she was 11 years old the family came to America and after spending a few years in New York state they came to Tippecanoe county, Indiana.
On Nov.5, 1865, she was married to James Godfrey who survives with the following children: Mrs. Carrie Kingsley, Mrs. Ida McCulloch and Charles Godfrey, all of the Dayton vicinity. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs Eliza Avery, of Geneva, N.Y. and two brothers Charles Morris of Dayton and George Morris of near Brookston, IN.

Mrs. Godfrey had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for sixty-two years, having been converted at the age of 12 years at the Goodman school house. She was a charter member of the Woman's Foreign Missionary
Society at Dayton. She assisted in raising funds for the building of the Dayton church and was a member before the edifice was erected.
The funeral will be conducted from the Dayton church Friday afternoon at 2.30, with interment in the Dayton cemetery. Rev. Israel Hatton of Romney, a lifelong friend of the family will officiate.
