PRA013 Leonard PRATER served in European theater during WWII. Suffered
malarial attacks. Served in North Africa, Sicily, Italy and France. 26th Infantry
Very sensitive person. It was said that he wouldn't kill a fly if it fell
into his coffee. Suffered a nervous breakdown after the war.
One time he carried the bodies of two friends around hidden in the jeep
because he couldn't stand to have them buried.
He had gotten out of the jeep to investigate something along the road and a direct hit demolished the jeep and his friends. Died from drinking wood
alcohol. His brother Stanley's death preyed on his mind with a great weight.
