Carolina Penina "Carrie" Gresham, the daughter of Edmund Richardson Gresham and his wife Nancy Elizabeth Anderson Gresham, was born June 6, 1852 in Georgia or Mississippi and died May 8, 1925, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.

Edmund Richardson Gresham was the son of John Gresham, Jr. and his wife, Martha Lumpkin Gresham from Walton Co., Georgia. He was one of 9 children. Nancy Elizabeth Andersonwas the daughter of William Lewis Anderson and Eudocia Moore Hill Anderson. The Andersons, a prosperous family, with a large number of children, moved c. 1845 from Social Circle, Georgia, to the Richwoods community near Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Here they established a plantation they named Ashland.

Carrie's parents made their home first in Georgia, later moving to Mississippi. Her siblings were: Mary Kathryn "Kate" who married James Hamilton "Hamp" Biscoe and lived in Benoit, Mississippi; William Wadley "Will/W.W." who married Eudocia Almeda Speakes and lived in Arkadelphia; and Austin Lumpkin "Aussie" who married Agatha "Gattie" Adams and lived in Mississippi.

On July 20, 1873, she married Gus Trigg, (born Sep. 28, 1847; died Nov. 4, 1917 in Arkadelphia). They had one child, a daughter, Willie Reeves, who married Jesse Moore. The Moores also made their home in Arkadelphia.
