Laura Lee Jaynes, 41, of Rawley Springs, Va., died at her home Sunday, April 17, 2011, of breast cancer.

Laura was born April 26, 1969, in Greer, S.C., a daughter of Marjorie A. Hooper of Hickory, N.C., and the late Frank Arthur Hooper III.

She was a first-grade teacher at John Wayland Elementary School in Bridgewater, Va., who dearly loved her students and her job. She was also an avid nature lover and musician. Laura was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Harrisonburg, where she enjoyed singing in the choir.

Surviving are Laura's husband of 19 years, C. David Jaynes and their son, Ethan (age 5).

Also surviving are a brother, Frank A. Hooper IV, of Greer, S.C.; three sisters, Beth Coffey and husband, Steve, of DeLand, Fla., and their children, Sarah, Ruthanne and Carolyn; Jan Bullen and husband, Gary, of Apex, N.C., and their children, Nathan, Elisha and Erin and Martha Glenn and husband, Bob, of Hickory, N.C., and their children, Rachel, Katherine, Robert and David.

The Rev. Ann Held will conduct a memorial service 2 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2011, at Trinity Presbyterian Church.
