Hall of Fame Professional Hockey Player. Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, he was a Canadian ice hockey centre significant to both the amateur and professional sport. He began his career playing for the Winnipeg Falcons in 1913 and played until his career was interrupted by military service in World War I. After the war, he captained the Winnipeg Falcons to the 1920 Allan Cup and then to the first gold medal offered in the sport hockey at the 1920 Olympics at Antwerp. In 1926, he joined the NFL Detroit Cougars and for the next six seasons he played for the Detroit Cougars, Boston Bruins, Pittsburgh Pirates and Detroit Falcons, until a knee injury ended his career in 1931. He finished with regular season records of 161 game points, 39 goals, 34 assist and 73 points. In 1958, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame and is also a member of the Manitoba Hockey Hall of Fame. He died at age 83 in Vancouver, Canada.
