Suzanne Marie (Suzy) McGrath, passed away suddenly at Pomerado Hospital, after a short illness on August 29, 2009, surrounded by family and friends. Suzy was born on June 25, 1946, in Spokane, WA, where she lived until her family settled in the San Diego area where she met and married her husband, Thomas (Kit) Christopher McGrath, on January 20, 1966.

Suzy was preceded in death by her parents, Vena Josephine Knox and Arthur Kennedy; husband, Thomas (Kit) Christopher McGrath; and a brother, Scott Gilchrist.

She is survived by brother, Bruce Gilchrist; sister, Kris Hanson; five children, Christopher McGrath, twins Troy McGrath and Tanya McGrath-Norris and twins Lance McGrath and Lori McGrath McMorris; daughters-in-law, Lila McGrath and Cindy McGrath; son-in-law, Terry Norris; 10 grandchildren, Jeremy Norris, Jesse Norris, Thomas McGrath, Kimberly McGrath, Mariah Counts, Kristen McGrath, Titus McGrath, Khalil McGrath, Luke McGrath and Briana Grossman; nieces, Brandi Gilchrist and Brenda Hanson Little; nephews, Brad Hanson and Scott Gilchrist.

Suzy worked for the Poway School District for many years working with children with special needs and loved every minute of it. She was a devoted wife and mother to her children as well as any stray children in the neighborhood. She valued her friends and always kept them near and dear to her heart. She was a huge baseball and football fan and always enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren playing.

Suzy was a member of St. Gabriel's Church in Poway. Visitation will be Thursday, September 3, 2009, from 4-8pm at Poway-Bernardo Mortuary with the Rosary at 7pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Fri, Sept 4, 2009, at St. Gabriel's Catholic Church in Poway. The committal will follow at Dearborn Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Poway-Bernardo Mortuary. Obit published in the Ramona Sentinel newspaper.
