Betty J. Roddy, 70, Oakwood, Ohio, died Friday, April 8, 2011, at CHP Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center, Defiance, Ohio.
She was born June 11, 1940, in Hillsdale, Mich., the daughter of Homer E. and Wilhelmina (McVay) Moore. On February 28, 1959, she married Leo Edward Roddy, who survives. She was a nurse's aide at the Defiance Hospital and the Defiance Nursing Home, retiring in 1984. She was a 1958 graduate of Continental High School and a member of First Assembly of God. She was a member of AMVETS, VFW Ladies Auxiliary and Moose Lodge.
Surviving are her husband, Leo Edward Roddy; a son, Jeffrey (Lisa) Roddy, Defiance, Ohio; two sisters, Miriam Arend, Toledo, Ohio, and Marjorie Scott, Paulding, Ohio; three grandchildren, Ashley, Gregory and Justin Roddy; and two great-grandchildren, Quintin and Casside Roddy.
Preceding her in death were her parents; a brother, Lawrence Moore; three sons, Edward, Kim and David Roddy; and a daughter, Teresa Roddy.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, April 11, 2011, at Hanenkrath-Clevenger-Schaffer Funeral Home, Defiance, with Rev. Larry Grow officiating. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Defiance.
