Confederate veteran. Born circa 1846. Son of Emaline who was a "washer-woman" in Chattanooga. Enlisted on January 9, 1862, at Chattanooga. Fought at Murfreesboro. Paroled on May 1, 1865, at Greensboro, North Carolina. Married Mary Ann Morgan in 1885. Mason. Baptist faith. Note: Chattanooga records show burial as in Citizens Cemetery, but headstone is in the Confederate Cemetery.Co. L 36 Tenn C.S.A. From WPA records.
