Mrs. Nolan was born in Arizona, lived in the county more than 20 years and graduated from Coronado High School in 1932. Her first husband, the late William Shield, was the president of the Santa Barbara Horticultural Society in the mid-1930s. Mrs. Nolan ran a small nursing home in Coronado during the early 1970s.
Survivors include her husband, Arthur, and two nephews, David Maxey and Richard Maxey, both of Coronado. The family suggested donations to the American Red Cross.
