BEST, JASPER JESSE -- ST. PETERSBURG – Jasper J. Best. 87, of Turnip Hole, Emlenton RD3, died at 7:40 am Sunday in Franklin Hospital. He was born June 29, 1888, in Callensburg, a son of Samuel and Rebecca Shoup Best.

Mr. Best worked as an oil driller in the early part of his life. He later worked as a farmer and carpenter. He was married to the former Mabel Black, who preceded him in death June 4,1972.

Mr. Best was a member of Macedonia Lodge 258, F and AM. of Bolivar. N.Y., and the Coudersport Consistory. He was affiliated with the Methodist Church of Callensburg.

Surviving are one son. Robert E. Best of St. Petersburg; a sister. Mrs. Ira (Mabel) Black of Emlenton RD 3; one grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Two daughters. Hazel and Rebecca, preceded him in death.

Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm today and Tuesday at the Karle D. McKinney Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Wednesday in the funeral home. Rev. Earl Runge, pastor of the St. Petersburg Lutheran Church, will officiate.

Interment will be in Loope Cemetery al Emlenton RD 3.
